The 1980s were an incredible decade for the film industry. From blockbusters to cult classics, the 1980s saw some of the greatest movies ever created. While the decade is often remembered for its teen-oriented comedies and sci-fi epics, there were a variety of genres that were represented in the decade. Today, I’m sharing with you the best movies of the 1980s in English language.


Let’s start with the cult classics. One of the most iconic movies of the decade was ‘The Breakfast Club’, a coming-of-age classic starring the likes of Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald, and Judd Nelson. Another beloved classic of the era was ‘The Goonies’, a beloved adventure comedy starring Sean Astin and Josh Brolin. The 1980s also saw the release of ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’, a classic comedy starring Matthew Broderick.

The decade also saw the release of some of the greatest horror movies of all time. ‘The Shining’, directed by Stanley Kubrick, is an iconic horror movie that still stands the test of time. ‘Poltergeist’, directed by Tobe Hooper, is another classic horror movie from the 1980s. ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’, directed by Wes Craven, is another classic horror movie of the era.
